MICHIGAN STATE 3, DAYTON 0

Dec. 1, 2007

Recap |  Box Score |  Photo Gallery

Dayton Head Coach Tim Horsmon
"We are unbelievably fortunate to have this group of seniors (Jamie-Lee Richards, Robynne Green, Adrienne Green). The year we're really excited about how we've built this program up. It's probably not the way we wanted to play today, but we had a heck of a season and I'm proud of the program and the leadership in these three in particular. I hope when they come back next year they can come back and see how they've built up this program."

"We lost to the better team today; they (Michigan State) were a tough opponent. They kept us out of our rhythm. They were so physical on the outside and kept pushing on us. It was tough for us to react to that. The first game they took a lot of energy out of us. We were struggling with injures and I think that played a little bit into our psyche. But they kind of put it to us today."

"...the unbelievable support from our University, administrators, red scare, the community, the whole group. I wish we would have played better from them. I just want to thank them. It was a great environment today for a volleyball match and I would guess that there aren't a whole lot of places that would look like it did today for a volleyball match."

"Courtney (Norris) didn't practice all last week (Jamie-Lee Richards: her foot is probably broken). She tweaked her ankle before the match. Adrienne (Green) was sick this week. We were getting hit this week, but you have to play through those things."

"I hope it (advancing into the NCAA tournament and being ranked #15) helps us with recruiting and national notoriety. We had a top 25 recruiting class last year and it should be better this year. We just want to keep out recruiting our last class. We have a great group of ladies."

Jamie-Lee Richards
"It was a great feeling to host at home for our final game. I'm really looking forward to where our program is going in the next few years. I can't wait to come back and see what it's going to be like."

"They (Michigan State) were big. They played very physical and reached over the net. That's something our team hasn't learned to do yet. It was a challenge; we're hoping our team will grow in that direction."

Robynne Green
"I still remember our freshmen year, our first NCAA experience. We've come a long way and I'm proud of our team. We worked really hard and we had a great preseason. It's tough to be in this situation right now. But I love how we got to go out on our home court with everyone there to support us."

Adrienne Green
"From our freshmen year to now our attitude towards the NCAA tournament has changed. Pat Summit said there are 64 teams and some are there to have fun and some are there with a purpose. We went out this year with a purpose."

Michigan State Head Coach Cathy George
"Dayton is a phenomenal team. They've done so much this season and just watching them and not being aware of them. When we watched them last night versus Limpscomb we saw what a great program everyone has put together here. It's not just the team; it's the program and the atmosphere. Great job by everyone running this tournament, it's obvious this program is moving in the right direction."

"I'm very proud of our team. Four seniors here, we've been together for three years. We've come a long way. Just three years ago we were 12-18 and it's been great to see this program grow. The players have had to get to know me and how corky I am. It's been great to see the growth of all the players and the team as we continue to build a foundation and beyond."

(About who the team will face in the next round) "If Nebraska hasn't won yet, they will soon. They are a tremendous team, a national championship team. It's an opportunity we're looking forward to. Our team is going after it every time. We have confidence. Maybe if we can keep the flow we can have the biggest upset in the nation."

Katie Johnson
The whole first game was tight; coming into this environment, great crowd, intimating, but we came out and handled it. We found our flow. We had to get use to the players. We only had 24 hours. We just had to get our rhythm and we did."

Ashley Schatzle
On film we saw tendencies; we were there on all those calls and blocked shots which got them (Dayton) off their rhythm."
