Freshman Kelly O'Connell and sophomore Molly Mathews teamed up to win the first-ever women's tennis alumni match on Saturday at the NCR Courts. Five former Flyers were on hand for the match, which first-year head coach Linda O'Keefe hopes to make an annual event.

O'Connell and Mathews defeated 2007 UD graduate Kara Metzger and senior Allysa Detroy in the finals of the pro set doubles tournament.

Courtney McDowell (alumni) and junior Nikki Dzubay finished third by eliminating '07 graduate Kate Mellion and freshman Chelsea Gray. Senior Megan Gray and freshman Laina Grote paired up to win the consolation bracket. Other former players in the competition were Michelle Carroll and Erin Kirkland-Hickey.

The alumni match marked the end of the fall season for the Flyers. The spring campaign kicks off on January 11, 2008 at Cincinnati.
