March 22, 2008 CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Dayton Flyers saw their six game win streak end at the hands of the Charlotte 49ers, 2-1 in extra innings. Eva Rappe pitched a complete game in the loss moving her to 5-6 this season. The Flyers pieced together five hits, including a 2-for-4 performance by leadoff hitter Molly Meyer. Both teams went scoreless through four frames before the Flyers drove in their first run on Katie Jordan's single to right centerfield. Charlotte scored next in the sixth inning to knot the game up at one. Both teams stayed deadlocked until the bottom of the eighth inning when the 49ers doubled to left field driving the winning run home to end the game. With the loss the Flyers are now 0-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 11-9 overall. Dayton is back in action in game two of the series this afternoon. |
