Meet the coaches is an inside look at the coaching staff of the Dayton women's soccer team. Each week one of the coaches will be featured on www.DaytonFlyers.com in an in-depth interview that will highlight the personalities of the women's soccer staff both on-and-off the field. This week, get to know assistant coach Sergio Gonzalez.
What is your coaching philosophy?
To provide an atmosphere where student-athletes can grow and be successful on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
Why Dayton?
Having the opportunity to be a part of the tremendous tradition that the women's soccer program has established and to be able to working along side Coach Tucker, Coach Berbary, and Coach D.
What did you do before coming to Dayton?
I was the assistant women's coach at Slippery Rock University for six years.
What are you interests off the field?
I like to watch movies, work out, and spend time with my girlfriend Megan and our dog Kaya.
What is your best women's soccer road trip memory?
The team's trip to Rhode Island last year and the trip to Newport -- it was my first chance to go back to my alma mater (Salve Regina University located in Newport) and see my family since I've moved to Ohio. We also left the trip with two great wins!!
What do you hope to accomplish during the 2007 season?
To win the Atlantic 10 regular season and for the team to be conference tournament Championships and also to play deep into the NCAA tournament.
