Today we left for our group trip down to the Southern Coast of Italy. We woke up around 9 and got on a bus that would take us on about a 4 hour drive through the city of Naples and into downtown Sorrento. Sorrento is a beautiful place where we stayed for two nights on our weekend trip. When we got there the first thing we did was head to the beach. A few of my friends and I headed to a private dock where we could lay out and swim in the water. It was extremely relaxing and refreshing. After that we went grabbed some food real quick and went out to explore more of downtown Sorrento. There were a million little shops and restaurants along the way and the mountains were amazing to look at.

On Friday we woke up early and as a group took the bus down to the ancient ruins of Pompeii. It was really interesting to see such an old city like Pompeii and hear all the history behind it. We took a tour and saw all the "houses" and everything that existed thousands of years ago. When that was over we arrived back in Sorrento around 2 and immediately went down to the docks to catch a boat over to the island of Capri. Capri is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been and it was definitely worth the trip. The island is extremely high class yet very small. A small group of us got on a boat and decided to go see the famous blue grotto. It was the smallest cave I have ever been in (we were in a kayak and had to duck so we didn't hit our heads). But once inside, because of the way that the light reflects off the water, we got to see what is considered the bluest water in the world. It was amazing and our boat boy even sang to us. We walked around Capri a little more after than then went back to Sorrento for a fantastic dinner on the water with one of the best views in the world.

Saturday was full of travels back to Rome and a little bit of rest. However, Sunday I got to experience something that many people never get to. My friends Annette and Sara and I along with some boys decided that while we were in Italy (home of the World Cup Champions) we should see some soccer. We went to an A.S. Roma vs. Messina game and it was some of the best live soccer I have ever seen. Roma won 4-3 so it was definitely an entertaining game. We tried to learn the cheers but our Italian is not very good. My favorite player Totti, even scored 2 goals and won the golden boot for the European league in the game so It was even better. Now the weekend is over and it's time to go back to school. Ohhh well I guess that's what I'm here for!

Goodnight All,
Steph
