LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With eight UD golfers placing in the Top 12 overall, the Dayton Flyers picked up a first place finish at the three-team Bellarmine Invitational.

Freshman Julie Pouliquen recorded her second first place finish of the year firing a second round 83 to finish with a total of 157. Pouliquen's 74 in round one was outstanding play especially when conditions prevented a practice round and the day started with a two hour frost delay.

Day two was even worse with 30 mile per hour winds, rain, sleet and hail. Despite the conditions sophomore Katie Gallagher finished in third shooting a second round 85 and ended up with a 165. Sophomore Katie Dempsey wasn't far behind adding a one-stroke improvement in round two to end up with a total of 167, good for fourth overall.

Freshman Megan Keating tied for fifth after shooting an 82 in round two. Keating finished with a 170 overall. Two Flyers, senior Mary Kane and freshman Heather Grant each shot a total of 172 to end up in a tie for eighth overall.

Sophomore Casey Peterson completed the tournament with a total of 173, while sophomore Paige Smith rallied with an 83 in round two to finish in 12th overall at 175. Sophomore Elaine English rounded out the scoring adding a 190 total.

Persimmon Ridge is a very demanding course with huge, ungulating greens that make approach-shot accuracy key and three-putts a threat on every hole. The cold, wet weather just added to the difficulty.

The Flyers continue the spring season at the Cincinnati Spring Invitational on Monday, March 31 from the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.
