1. Will it be difficult to replace Tom Murphy, an elite player in this conference while he was a Flyer?

Yes, he was a very good player to say the least.  As much as we depended on his point up top in the line-up, the team also depended on his leadership.  This may sound like a cliche, but we must have some players step up this year.  There were two great seniors that I lost last year, Rex Cabrera being the other.

2. What are your goals for this year?

We want to finish in the top 4 in the A-10.  We are also shooting for 15 wins this season.  I believe this team can achieve both.

3. What do you tell prospective student-athletes about the University of Dayton?

I tell them about the tradition of academic excellence at UD, and the strong spirit of the campus life here.  I tell them about the special balance between academics and athletic achievement at UD, and about the strength of the Atlantic-10 Conference.

4. What is the best tennis memory of your coaching career to this point?

Beating UMass in the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament my second year of coaching (1999).  We finished fourth that year after tenth and eighth place finishes the two prior years.  Also, finishing second at the A-10s two years ago  (2005) was special.

5. What makes the Atlantic 10 an exciting conference to be part of?

The fact that there are thirteen men's teams in it, and we are all very close in level.

6. Which match or invitational are you looking forward to the most this season?

The Xavier match always generates a lot of excitement due to the rivalry between the schools.  And of the course, the A-10 tournament is what we are working towards.
