Sophomore Matt Sherman and junior Antonio Rodriguez tallied a doubles victory, but it was not enough as the Flyers men's tennis team lost to Air Force 7-0 on Sunday in their second of three spring break matches in Colorado. UD dropped to 8-11 on the season. Sherman and Rodriguez defeated James Tomlin and Austin Francis 8-4 at No. 2 doubles for Dayton's lone victory. In singles, the Flyers brought two matches to a third set, but came up empty in each. Senior James O'Connell fell at No. 1 to Brett Rodgers 6-4, 0-6, 2-6. Freshman Bryce Warnock was defeated in a super tiebreak at No. 5, 6-4, 3-6, 0-1(9). Rodriguez also played a tough match against Tomlin at No. 4, but lost 5-7, 6-7(7). The Flyers will play their final spring break match on Monday, March 17 against Rhode Island at 11:30 a.m. ET. |
