Player Profile

Position:
Head Coach

The University of Dayton men's tennis team has been consistently competitive under the direction of Head Coach Steve Brumbaugh. The '07-'08 season will mark Brumbaugh's ninth year at the helm of the Flyer program. This past season, Brumbaugh guided UD to a winning spring record of 13-12 and a sixth-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship.

In 2004-05, the Flyers posted a 16-7 record and took second place at the Atlantic 10 Championship as Brumbaugh was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. He posted his best record in 1998 when the Flyers won a school record 21 matches. As a result, Brumbaugh was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, marking the first time he received the honor.

Outside of coaching men's tennis at Dayton, Brumbaugh is the head tennis professional at Troy Country Club and is a surveyor/CAD operator at Brumbaugh Engineering and Surveying.

Brumbaugh was a state qualifier in high school before attending Cedarville College. At Cedarville, he was a NAIA National Participant; his singles ranking was #35 with a #11 ranking in doubles his senior year. He spent two years on the satellite circuits and won the Montgomery County Tournament in singles and doubles in 1997, and in doubles in 2002. This past summer Brumbaugh placed second in doubles with his brother at the annual tournament. He was inducted into the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in Feburary 2002.

Brumbaugh and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons, Matthew, Philip, and Nicolas, and one daughter, Shannon.
