Entering his third season with the Dayton Flyers, Assistant Men's Soccer Coach Paul Souders looks to continue developing players for the next level. Souders core responsibilities include coordinating preseason workouts, training sessions and serving as the recruiting coordinator for official and unofficial visits. In his previous two seasons at the University of Dayton, Souders has helped the Flyers to a 17-14-6 overall record. In addition to the success on the field, Souders has coached four former Flyers have played professionally in North America and Europe. Dasan Robinson, who was drafted and signed with the Chicago Fire of the MLS, also was invited to the U.S. National Team tryouts in January. Other Flyers in the professional ranks include Omar Jarun who was drafted by the USL's Atlanta Silverbacks, Terry Alvino, who earned a starting role for the USL's Minnesota Thunder, and Lubo Bogdanov who signed with Cheml in the first division of the Czech Republic. Souders served in the 2004 season as a graduate assistant under Currier at University of Incarnate Word, where the Cardinals finished ranked eighth in Division II, posting an 18-4-1 record. A native of Dallas and a graduate of Coppell High School, Souders earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education at Clemson University. His study concentration there was in psychology and sociology. He played varsity soccer at Clemson for four years, helping the Tigers win the Atlantic Coast Conference title in 2001 and reach the NCAA Division I round of eight both in 2001 and 2002. Souders also played in the United States Olympic Pool for Under-23. He has coaching experience with the New Mexico State U-16 team. He lives in Beavercreek, with his wife, Lindsey. |
