AT DAYTON: Coming off a knee injury last year, McDonald had a superb 2007 with the Flyers. He was second on the team in tackles recording 79 (40 solo). He forced a fumble, while adding 3 recovered fumbles for 41 yards. McDonald added two interceptions for the Flyers this season. He was named to the PFL All-League First Team. In 2006., he backed up John Hoppe at that position, playing in all ten games and getting 18 hits (11 solo),an interception and a forced fumble. In 2005, McDonald earned his first letter playing in seven games where he had 31 hits (17 solo) and one interception. Even though his season was stopped short by the knee injury, he was named UD's Most Improved Player. He is a two-time member of the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll. PERSONAL: Son of Randy and Roberta McDonald...Born on July 14, 1985...Majoring in Adolescence-to-Young-Adult Education... McDonald is the latest in a long line of Newark Catholic products to don the Red and Blue. He was First Team All-Ohio in football, and placed fifth in the state in wrestling. He also ran track. He was a member of the National Honor Society, and was senior class vice-president. |
