2007-08: He recorded his first collegiate field goal at George Mason. He chipped in with three points, a steal and an assist in 12 minutes at Xavier. He played in 23 games in his freshman season averaging 0.7 points and .5 rebounds. Stephen Michael Thomas joins the Flyer backcourt after a standout career at Indianapolis Cathedral High School. A heady player with a classic Hoosier-guard game, Thomas is a two-time Indianapolis Player of the Year, leading Cathedral High to a 38-10 record in the last two seasons. High School:He averaged 18.6 points and 4.0 rebounds a game as a senior, leading his team to a 21-4 record and the Hall of Fame Tournament title and a second straight Indianapolis City Tournament Championship even though he missed a couple of weeks midway through the season with a wrist injury that required surgery. As a junior, Thomas led a young Cathedral team to a strong finish and a 17-6 record, with Thomas averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.1 rebounds. In 2006-07, the Indianapolis Star named Thomas one of its two annual Players of the Year. Thomas was the Indianapolis Player of the Year, and national player of the year Greg Oden was named Marion County Player of the Year. Last season, Thomas was a repeat city player of the year, while Indiana recruit Eric Gordon was the county player. The tenth-rated senior in Indiana last year, Thomas was a three-time First Team All-Indianapolis selection. The Bob Gibbons All-Star Report has three Top 150 players heading to the A-10 from the fall signing period, and two (Thomas and Chris Wright) are Flyer freshmen in 2007-08.
