High School:Michael Ryan Laing joins the UD basketball program after playing his high school ball at Marquette University High School. He was team captain as a senior, averaging 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. MUHS was ranked seventh in Division I (largest school classification) in Wisconsin at the end of the 2006-07 season.

A three-sport athlete, Laing also played quarterback in football, and was a pitcher and second baseman in baseball. Laing was the starting pitcher in the 2006 Wisconsin state championship game that his team won. Marquette University High School's baseball team was knocked out in the state semi-finals in 2007.

Laing is an engineering major, but his career ambition is to become an attorney. He has a sister named Jessica (20).
