Central Michigan (2001)

Position:
Assistant Coach

Jon Borovich is in his first season with the Flyers. A native of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Borovich, age 28, has been an assistant coach for the last two years at Oakland University. After appearing in the 2005 NCAA Opening Round Game in Dayton, the Grizzlies were 11-18 in 2005-06 and 19-14 last season. The 19 wins were the most by Oakland since the school went Division I in 1997. Borovich was with the Flyers for the first two seasons of Gregory's tenure as head coach. During Borovich's time on the Dayton staff, UD was 42-20, won the 2003 Maui Invitational and made an appearance in the 2004 NCAA tournament.

Before coming to Dayton he served as a graduate assistant on the staff at Michigan State where he assisted the Spartan's program in video analysis while completing his Master's Degree in Athletics Administration.

Borovich earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Studies in 2001 from Central Michigan, with a double minor in Psychology and Coaching. He was the captain of the Chippewas' basketball team as a junior and senior, and helped lead the team to the 2001 Mid-American Conference Championship. He also was named to the MAC All-Academic team as a senior.

"Jon's familiarity with our system is a big asset to our program," head coach Brian Gregory says. "He brings enthusiasm and energy to our program every day. He was a tough competitor as a player, and that's why his future is so bright in this profession."
