Dayton will start Atlantic 10 Conference play with an Easter weekend series at home against rival Xavier. The Flyers and Musketeers will square off on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with games beginning each day at 1 p.m. ET. All three games will feature Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com with FREE live audio also available for Saturday's and Monday's contests from Information Radio (1610 AM). UD begins its Atlantic 10 schedule with the first of three straight series against teams that participated in the A-10 Championship last season. Dayton enters the series with a 10-5 overall record inckuding eight wins in a row at one point while Xavier is only 4-9 including two losses to #2 Kentucky and a doubleheader split with 2007 College World Series participant Louisville. The Flyers have hit .305 as a team with 102 runs scored in only 15 games played (6.8 runs per game) and have tallied 25.7 percent of their hits for extra bases. Dayton's best hitter has come from the ninth spot in the order as Kevin Miller boasts a .417 batting average and is one of four players on the UD roster with 10 or more RBI. He also has a .467 on base percentage and has two stolen bases. Overall, UD holds a .404 on base percentage which is bolstered by 48 walks and 39 times hit by pitch. Marshall MacDonald leads the team with a .478 mark that has translated into 11 runs scored this season. Dayton has not kept its base runners stagnant for long as they have recorded 23 stolen bases in 29 attempts entering the weekend. Ryan Nevill is seven for eight in stolen base attempts followed by five stolen bases by Cole Tyrell. Saturday's projected starter Alex Dye is 2-0 this season with a 3.00 ERA following a four-strikeout performance over 5.0 innings pitched in his last start against Valparaiso. He has held the opposition to a .270 batting average against him and has surrendered only three extra base hits in 21.0 innings pitched. |
