Prior to UD
Was awarded 1st Team All-Conference at Ben Logan High School (Bellefontaine, Oh). As a senior, Coughlin was a very versatile player, contributing at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base, as well as at short stop and center field. He recorded 0 errors in the 2007 season.

A civil engineering major born on February 12, 1989, Coughlin is the son of Michael and Teresa. He has two sisters, Alayna and Alexa, and a brother, Mitchell.
