A part of University of Dayton athletics since 2000, Dawn Mamula was named UD's Senior Woman Administrator in the summer of 2007. Mamula brings external and internal administrative experiences, as well as those of a student-athlete and coach to the role of SWA. Her first position with the Flyers was as the Director of Ticketing Services at the University of Dayton Arena. After two years at the Arena, she moved into athletic administration where she managed the division's finances as well as athletics communications. Since then, her duties have expanded to include serving as the sport program administrator for women's soccer and softball and oversight of academic affairs, as well as student-athlete welfare issues and the student-athlete life skills program. A three-sport athlete in high school, the New Philadelphia, Ohio native played two seasons of collegiate tennis at Otterbein College before injuries ended her career. She was a member of two Ohio Athletic Conference championship teams, and was an OAC champion and runner-up at #2 singles and #1 doubles. She was first team all-conference in both of her seasons at Otterbein. In addition to her administrative experience, Mamula was an assistant tennis coach at Otterbein before coming to UD, and also took over the Dayton women's tennis program for one season as interim head coach. She guided the Flyers to a sixth-place finish at the 2005 Atlantic 10 Championships, matching UD's second-best finish. A 1998 graduate of Otterbein with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, Mamula earned her Master's in Sport Management from The Ohio State University in 2005. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Sport Management at OSU where her research interests will be focused on intercollegiate athletics. In addition, Mamula is an adjunct professor in UD's Health and Sport Science department, teaching courses in sport finance. Mamula is the chair of the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Committee, and a member of the A-10 Women's Tennis Committee and the A-10 Championships and Equity Committee. She is a member of the Collegiate Athletic Business Managers Association, the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and the College Sports Information Directors of America. |
