UD Prospective Student Athletes

The University of Dayton is home to one of the finest collegiate athletic programs in the country. With each season, the Flyers build on a tradition of academic and athletic excellence. In fact, the previous five years have seen UD capture Atlantic 10 championships in men's basketball, volleyball, women's soccer and two Pioneer Football League championships.

The success of Flyers' sports teams parallel the accomplishments of University of Dayton student athletes. Players such as Chris Rolfe, Dasan Robinson, Denny Clanton, Mark Schulte and Michael Nsien are all in Major League Soccer. Men's Basketball players like Keith Waleskowski, Jim Paxson and Neagle Knight have made it to the NBA, while current volleyball players Faye Barhorst and Bethany Akerhielm have been invited to play for the United States National Volleyball team. In women's basketball, Kendel Ross played for the Canadian National team. In football, Dayton also has a unique record with the most Super Bowls held by a school as Chuck Noll and Jon Gruden have combined to win five Super bowls as head coaches.

Regardless of the sport played at the University of Dayton, the Flyers compete in style, train in first-class facilities, and enjoy a decided home-court advantage. The University of Dayton Arena is one of the premier college basketball venues in the country, housing the men's and women's teams. UD Arena ranked in the in the Top 25 in attendance 22 times since the 1969-70 season with average attendance 11,726 since that time. The Frerick Center s is the now the exclusive home to the women's volleyball team seating 5,000 fans. Baujan Field is situated right in the heart of campus and provides a home for the Flyer men's and women's soccer teams. UD men's and women's golf plays one of Golf Digest's top 100 courses, the NCR Country Club (south course), has hosted the PGA Championship, the Women's Open and the Senior Open. The football and track team share two top of the line facilities. The Jerry Von Mohr practice facility is a multi purpose facility that includes a full track along with a grass practice football field. Welcome stadium is the location of the competition for these two teams, holding 11,000 fans. Lastly are the newly constructed, top of the line baseball and softball facilities costing over $4 million.

The University of Dayton Athletic Department welcomes prospective student-athletes, parents, and boosters to learn more about becoming a Flyer.
